I’m the kind of person that devours a book. You know, I really make it my own, complete with dog-eared pages, highlighter markings, underlining (in various different colours), dates, some tear stains, torn out pages that have been crumpled up then retrieved from across the room and smoothed out and then taped back in; obviously I’m still working on some anger issues (but the Kindle is helping tremendously with this).
Currently, I’m reading three books.
1. Chicken Soup for the Soul – Think Positive
Although I already have a pretty positive attitude (crumpled page days aside); I liked the cover of this book. I love the spunk of that little goldfish! It made me smile, so I bought it. Darrell and I are reading this one together, so I guess you could say it’s our devotional.
2. Spiritual Authority by Watchman Nee
Quote: “The act of sinning was not the cause of Satan’s fall; that act was but the product of his rebellion against authority. It was rebellion which God condemned.”
Compare Isaiah 14:12-12 with Ezekiel 28:13-17.
Some very interesting concepts. Watchman Nee always has a unique way of looking at things, I enjoy his perspectives. Very heavy reading though; sometimes I need to read and re-read. I’m learning boat loads; there is always so much to consider in his books.
3. Made to Crave by Lysa TerKeurst
Quote from book: “I’m not bouncy perky about giving up two of the greatest delights of my taste buds – Cheez-Its and box-mix brownies. In fact, I’ve even asked God if it would be such a terribly difficult thing to swap the molecular structure of Cheez-Its for carrot sticks. They’re both already orange. And, really how hard could that be for someone who’s turned water into wine?”
A completely convicting book, I loved it immediately! I like the way she writes; completely honest, transparent and humorous.
